Broken Bow, NE- Marvin Payne age 83 of Broken Bow died Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Caleb Sampson officiating.  Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary.  Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Pioneer Center, Broken Bow EMT’s or the Donor’s Choice.  Online condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com Marvin Quinn Payne was born on January 10, 1935, near Berwyn, NE to George Allen and Vera Esther (Quinn) Payne.  Marvin graduated from Mason City High School in 1953.  He served in the US Army 1955-1957 and was stationed in Germany for a year.  He was married to Carole Archer on April 4, 1957, at Kearney, NE.  They lived all their married life in Broken Bow. He started working at Armstrong Propane in 1956 and he was in the business until he retired in 2008.He was a member of the VFW and an Elks Club member. He grew up showing hogs in 4-H and played and coached baseball for many years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing pool at the Prairie Pioneer Center. He was a member of the Broken Bow Church of Christ and trusted the Lord as his savior and was baptized. Marvin is survived by his wife Carole of Broken Bow, his son Steve (Holly) Payne of Broken Bow, his daughter Julie (Greg) Wright of Broken Bow, four granddaughters Ashlee (Brenna) Payne of Lincoln, NE and Nikkee Payne of Boulder, CO, Kassandra Wright of Omaha, NE and Tessa (Levi) Entz of Seward, NE and one great-grandson Elijah Entz. Brother in law Donald Archer and wife Carol of Kearney, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gordon Payne, and sisters; Melva Payne, Lois Armstrong, and Mardelle Brown.
