Steven Ray Anderson born on January 6, 1949, son of Gladys and Raymond Anderson passed April 29th, at the Callaway Good Life Center. As a young child he was raised and baptized in the river by the Open Bible Church. Steve grew up in a family-oriented house, they had many family dinners and went on several family vacations - 47 states to be exact. He was an outstanding athlete. He led many high school basketball and football teams to the state tournament and had competition pumping through his blood. Steve graduated from Halsey-Dunning High School and attended college at Chadron State. On June 16th, 1968, Steve was joined in matrimony with Marilyn Seeley at the Halsey 4-H camp. Steve and Marilyn raised two wild boys, Corey Ray and Kevin Tyler. Steve has had many ventures in his life, he was a hard worker; he raised hogs, ran a mobile station, drove a bread truck, and worked for his dear friend Mike Moody as a feed salesman at Harsh Mercantile in Purdum. He had many hobbies including golfing, goose hunting, walleye fishing, and spending time cheering on his five grandchildren in all aspects of their lives. Later in life he enjoyed cruising dirt roads, watching for deer for his grandchildren, and visiting with neighbors. He was a professional at finding the best chicken fried steak and fried chicken around, and at 10 A.M. you could find him in his chair watching The Price is Right.
Steve is survived by his children, Corey (Tiffany Anderson, Kevin (Jody) Anderson, brother Loyd (Kay) Anderson. Five grandchildren, Kale (Gretchen) Anderson, Ridge (Logan) Anderson, Kutter and Grace Anderson. Two great grandchildren Berkley and Baylor Anderson.
Steve was preceded in death by wife, Marilyn, his mother and father, Gladys and Raymond, his brother Billy Ray, and his grandson Riggin.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 10:00 am at Sandhills High School. Services will be livestreamed at www.govierbrothers.com. Burial will be in the Dunning Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Dunning Cemetery and/or the Dunning Fire Hall. A visitation will take place on Monday, May 1st, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
