Sharla Mae Kaelin, 82, of Broken Bow passed away at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow with family by her side March 21, 2021.

 Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Pastor Kathy Salts PMA officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date in the Broken Bow Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour Lutheran Church.  The service will be livestreamed at www.govierbrothers.com Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Sharla was born December 4, 1938, in Callaway, Nebraska to Lloyd and Martha (Adams) Empfield.  Sharla was the 3rd of five daughters born in that union.  She attended Sunnyside Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Callaway High School in 1956.  Sharla married Charles “Charlie” Richard Kaelin on July 28, 1957 and resided in Broken Bow where they raised their three sons.   Sharla worked at the Drs. Office of Dr. Theodore Koefoot and Dr. Richard Koefoot for nine years and ended her career at the ASCS office retiring December 4, 2001 after 24 years and 7 months of service.  She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and always enjoyed visiting with her many friends.  Sharla enjoyed spending time with her family and hosted many extended family gatherings over the years.  She especially enjoyed seeing and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Sharla is survived by her three sons, Charles “Rick” (Cheryl) of O’Fallon, MO, Brad (Tammie) of Broken Bow, NE, Mark of Broken Bow, NE, two sisters Marilyn Waldron of Lincoln, NE, Marthalene Parks of North Platte, NE, seven grandchildren, Britni (Scott) Weindel of Kirkwood, MO, Jared (Holly) Kaelin of Florissant, MO, Karissa Marshall (finance Steven Stunkel), of Ansley, NE, Ty (LeeAnn) Taylor of Broken Bow, NE, Chayse and Morgan Kaelin of Broken Bow, NE, Gage Pollard of Taylor, NE, six great grandchildren, Sarah, Evan & Charlie Weindel and Stella, Sadie and Max Kaelin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharla is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Marjorie Eichelberger and Patsy Horn, father and mother-in-law, Frank and Hattie Kaelin, brother in laws, Charles Waldron and Loran Parks, nieces Loni and Julie Eichelberger and nephews Lane Horn and John Eichelberger.
