Reta Mae Miller, age 97, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Burwell, Nebraska. Born on July 20, 1928, in Cozad, Nebraska, to MJ Maier and Thressa Belle (Price) Maier, Reta attended a country school and in 1936, when the family moved to Rose Valley, northeast of Broken Bow, her elementary school years continued there. Reta spent her high school years living at the Melham House and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1945 where she completed Normal Training. On June 20, 1945, she married John Claire Miller, and together they built a Christ-centered home and family. Reta was a devoted mother to three children: Michael (Trudie) Miller, Gregory (Linda) Miller, and Shelley (Gary) Mager. She lovingly dedicated her early years to being a stay-at-home mother. Once her children were in school, she worked as a cook at North Park Elementary School. Reta was involved in both her community and her church. She served as a Cub Scout leader, 4-H leader, and was a gifted seamstress. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. At Broken Bow Assembly of God, she faithfully served as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, and missions secretary, sharing the love of Christ through faithful service and prayer. Reta and Claire enjoyed entertaining missionaries who were traveling through, and hosting weekly in home Bible studies. Reta is survived by her three children, Mike, Greg, and Shelley; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and prayed for faithfully. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claire. Reta will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and lifelong devotion to the Lord. She trusted completely in God’s promises and found great comfort in Psalm 91, resting in the assurance that she dwelt in the shelter of the Most High and abided under the shadow of the Almighty. Having finished her earthly journey, she has now entered the presence of her Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her life stands as a testimony to faith, service, and steadfast trust in God.
