Precious Hope Atchison 1953-2026

Precious Hope Atchison, of Arnold, Nebraska, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, following liver failure. She was born on May 9, 1953, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Dr. Ivan E. and Alice E. Olsen.

Precious graduated from North Platte High School in 1971. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rockmont College and later received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. Her professional life reflected her concern for people and her desire to help them find healing, wisdom, and hope. She served on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, was Dean of Women at a college in Texas, worked for many years as a counselor in private practice, and taught counseling at Western Seminary’s Seattle campus and at Emmanuel House in Manhattan, Kansas.

On July 29, 1978, Precious married Liam. They shared nearly forty-eight years of marriage, two children, and two grandchildren. She was also the author of two traditionally published books and had recently begun producing videos for her own YouTube channel.

Precious loved her children, grandchildren, and friends around the world. She lived a full and meaningful life despite years of chronic illness. She loved coffee, rocking on the porch, time with her husband, and welcoming others into conversation and friendship. Above all, she loved Jesus Christ and shared the Good News of life in Him with others. She was a member of Arnold Community Bible Church.

Precious was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Ivan and Dwight. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Liam J. Atchison of Arnold; her children, Hope E. Black and husband Jacob of Vashon Island, Washington, and Jesse N. Atchison and wife Jenna of League City, Texas; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Joy A. Lucht of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Faith E. Eppler of Olathe, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life for Precious will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Maranatha Bible Camp, 16800 E. Maranatha Road, Maxwell, NE 69151.

On Sunday, Arnold Community Bible Church will honor Precious’s life with a dinner following the regular worship service, which begins at 10:45 a.m. at 101 E. Seventh Ave., Arnold, NE 69120.
