It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Doyle” Spencer, age 74, who left us on December 19, 2025, in Grand Island, Nebraska. Born on October 4, 1951, in Sargent, Nebraska, the son of Donald and Doris (Wells) Spencer, was a cherished member of his community.

After completing his education at Brewster High School and attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Mike married Donna Davis in 1972. Mike devoted much of his life to his family’s ranch in Brewster. Returning after college, he took pride in working on the ranch until a motorcycle accident in 1995 altered the course of his journey. However, his resilience shone through as he later graduated from Motorcycle Mechanic School in Lincoln, Nebraska, and took on a rewarding career with the State of Nebraska Department of Corrections over several years.

Mike was deeply committed to serving his community. He proudly served on the Brewster Fire Department and as an EMT, helping to ensure the safety and well-being of his fellow community members.

A true enthusiast at heart, Mike spent his leisure time enjoying a variety of hobbies. He loved racing and riding his dirt bike, as well as boating and waterskiing. His passion for Husker football and western movies was well-known among his friends and family, and he found joy in canoeing down the river, creating lasting memories along the way. He always found time to sit down and read whether it was a good ole western or a dirt bike magazine. He also could never pass up a good deal while out shopping, whether it was batteries, coffee cups, knives, monster cookies, and apple fritters.

Michael took immense pride in his family, particularly his children and grandchildren, who were his proudest accomplishments.

Survivors include his children Stacy (Denise) Spencer of Litchfield Park, AZ, Michaela (Brandin) Keith of Taylor, NE, Brett Spencer of Burwell, NE, Ashley (Michael) Clay of Berwyn, NE, Grandchildren, Monica, Shelby, Garrett, Lena, Brady, Sebastian, Lincoln. Great Grandkids, Anabelle, Ashlynn, and William. Mike is also survived by his brother Dale Spencer of Lincoln, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dan, who will undoubtedly hold a special place in his eternal rest.

Michael Spencer's spirit and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Brewster Community Building. Burial will follow at the Brewster Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. A visitation and time to greet the family will be held on Monday December 22, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers.
