Marla Krout

Arnold, Nebraska – Florence “Marla” Krout, age 81, a longtime resident of Arnold, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at the Callaway Good Life Center where she had resided in recent years.

A memorial service celebrating Marla’s life will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM. at the Arnold Baptist Church. Visitation and a time to greet the family will take place prior to the service at 9:30 A.M. at the church.

Marla was born on December 23, 1944, in Arnold, Nebraska to Cameron K. and Fern (Schroeder) Hall. She was raised north of Arnold on the Hall Ranch where she developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for rural life. She attended Merna High School and graduated with the Class of 1963.

Marla began her adult life in Merna, where she married Kenneth Sheets. They moved to Arnold to live and work on the family farm. Together they were blessed with four children.

She later married Roger Krout, and they remained in Arnold. During their years together, Marla and Roger shared an interest in classic cars and were active members of the Flatlanders Car Club, forming friendships and enjoying the community.

Throughout her life, Marla worked to support herself and her family, holding positions at Suzy’s Bar for many years and later at Mighty Mart where she enjoyed interacting with many people.

Marla took joy in making cookies and candy at Christmas to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed working on puzzles and coloring—activities that brought her peace and comfort. She helped care for several of her grandchildren in their early years and valued spending time with her family.

Marla was preceded in death by her parents, Cameron and Fern Hall; her brothers, Dee Hall and Ellis Hall; her great-granddaughter, Nevaeh; her son-in-law, Mike Nelson; and her former husband, Roger Krout.

She is survived by her children, Brad Sheets of Arnold, Kendra Nelson of Arnold, Jeff (Jennifer) Sheets of Sioux Falls, SD, and Shirla Streit of Arnold. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Zack, Jessica, Cassie, Marissa, Jasmine, Caden, Dylan, Alex, Colby and Brendan; and eight great-grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Wyatt, Jamison, Maeve, Meyer, Preston & Oliver. She is also survived by her brother, Lynn Hall, and her sisters, Larraine Holm, Paula (Bob) Becker, Arlene Blagdon, and Nelda (Roy) Lynn, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
