Margy A. Schnase, age 89 of Ansley, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
She was born on June 7, 1935, in Broken Bow, a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Holland. Margy attended Ansley Public schools. On June 10, 1951, she was United in marriage to Grant Schnase in Loup City at Reverend Herger's residence. The couple made their home in rural Loup City prior to settling in Ansley.
Margy was a homemaker, raising the 11 children along with a very large garden. She was member of Chrisian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. After the kids were grown, she spent a lot of time in the garden with Grant. Her favorite pastime was pulling weeds. She loved planting flowers in her flower bed in front of the house. Every day she would walk downtown to get her mail and then head over to the hair salon to visit with friends. She was a very proud grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma. Sunday gatherings and Holidays kept her busy cooking for her family. She loved it when someone would stop by the house in the morning for a cup of coffee and a chat.
She is survived by her children, Merna (Carl) Snell of Chappel, Kathy (Gilbert Mendoza) Schnase of Minatare, NE, Rose Samples of Ansley, Grant "Gene" Schnase of Broken Bow, Helen (Mark) Linder of Stevens Point, WI, Julie (Brad) Wells of Palmer, Billy (Teresa) Schnase of Grand Island, Eldon Schnase of Broken Bow, and Lori (Randy) Rehbein of Hayes Center; her 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Holland of Leavenworth, KS; daughter- in-law, Sue Schnase of Torrington, WY; along with numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Margy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Grant in 2015; daughter Linda (Tom) Barta; son Gerald Schnase; grandson, Jason Samples; great-grandson, Cinch Barta, siblings Gerald, Calven, Arthur, Betty, Don, Bernice, and Bill.
Funeral Services for Margy will be held at Chrisian Church, 821 Douglas St. Ansley on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ryan Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the Ansley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Ansley Fire & Rescue. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation for Margy on Friday, June 6th at the Chrisian church from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Lunch will be served at the Ansley Park following services, all are invited. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Online words of remembrance may be left at www.govierbrothers.com
