M Eileen Stuhr

M. Eileen Stuhr age 89 of Broken Bow, NE formerly of the Minden, Iowa area passed away July 18, 2022, at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow, NE.

Marcele Eileen Campbell Stuhr was born September 28, 1932, in Custer County, Nebraska to Harry and Elsie Mae (Howland) Campbell. As a teenager Eileen worked summers at the National Forest Reserve in Halsey, NE.

Eileen graduated from Anselmo High School in 1951. She attended summer school at both Chadron and Kearney State Teacher College. She taught rural schools in Thomas and Custer County. During the summers she filled in at the post office, drug store, and grocery store.

Eileen moved to Omaha and worked one summer at Harold’s Super Market (now No Frill’s). She then went to work at Aetna Life and Casualty as an underwriter. Eileen met and married John C. Stuhr June 17, 1966. The couple farmed his family farm until they retired to Minden, IA.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband John, sisters: Iris (Elmer) Clang, Zelma (Robert) Scott, Bertha (Dan) Cawley, brothers: Alvin, Virgil, Roger, and Charles (Carol) Campbell.

Eileen leaves to mourn her passing sister Joyce (Gordon) Melroy, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces, and nephews.

Eileen enjoyed reading, fishing, and watch most sports.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 2:00 pm in Iowa at the Minden Cemetery in Minden, IA. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com.
