Lorna Garwood age 70, of Whitman, NE, passed away on June 18, 2026.
Lorna Garwood was born in Gordon, NE on March 26, 1956, to Dick and Geri Garwood. Lorna was the oldest of seven children.
She grew up on a ranch near Kyle, South Dakota. Lorna graduated high school from Holy Rosary Indian Mission near Pine Ridge, South Dakota in 1975.
Lorna married Lloyd York, Jr, in October of 1976. They had three children, Angel, Lee, and Arcelia.
Lorna and her children moved to Whitman, NE in 1990.
Lorna worked for Dennis Metzger for four years helping with show cattle and auctions. She worked for Milt Sexson as a ranch hand for 15 years. Then she went to work for Connealy Angus and found her second family. She worked for Connealy Angus for 14 years until her diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer.
Lorna is survived by her children Angel (Dack) Hill of Ravenna, NE, Lee York of Bayard, NE, Arcelia (Shane) Morava of Valentine, NE, six grandchildren Kobe Giger, Ashley (Emilio) Ponce, Bailee York, Brailynn Hill, Clayton Morava and Maddison Morava, three great-grandchildren Charlie and Ahkari Ponce, and Mark Eck, brothers Steve Garwood of Valentine, NE, James (Catherine) Garwood of Aurora, NE, sisters Christy Garwood of Alliance, NE, and Robin (Darrel) Seidler of Hyannis, NE, great aunts Clarabelle Garwood and Mary Ann Lincoln, several nieces and nephews, and the wonderful people at Connealy Angus.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Jeri, brother Teddy, sister Carolyn, and sister-in-law Sylvia.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM MT at the All-Faiths Catholic Church in Hyannis, NE. Burial will follow in the Whitman Cemetery in Whitman, NE. Memorials are suggested to Hyannis Fire Department. A visitation and time to greet the family will be held on Monday, June 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM MT, at the Mullen Funeral Home in Mullen.
