Brewster, NE- Loretta Epp, age 60, passed away on May 23, 2026, at her home near Brewster.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Brewster Community Building. Memorials are suggested to the Brewster Volunteer Fire Department. Loretta Louise Epp was born on September 16, 1965, in Fairbury, NE to Carl and Etta (Stelling) Herfel. Loretta grew up near Diller, NE and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1983. She was baptized into her Lutheran faith on May 20, 1973, and confirmed in May 1979 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen, NE. Loretta was married to Gerald “George” Dean Epp on June 18,1983. In October 1988, their son, Logan, was born. The family made their home near Diller.

The family moved to Brewster, NE in January 1994. Loretta worked for the Hall family hog confinement and later worked at the Halsey forest nursery. In January 2000, Loretta and George moved to their home east of Brewster in the Pleasant Valley area. In recent years, Loretta worked alongside George at the Guggenmos River Ranch.

Loretta enjoyed her horses, dogs, and deer hunting in the fall with her husband and son. She was a woman of many talents and great modesty. Loretta was fiercely loyal, quick-witted, quietly thoughtful and hardworking. Her servant heart would go to the ends of the earth for her loved ones. Her pride and joy were her two grandsons, Landry and Caleb.

Loretta is survived by her husband, George, of Brewster, son, Logan Epp and his wife, Jen, of Burwell, and two grandsons, Landry and Caleb Epp. She is also survived by her two brothers, John Herfel and his wife Marvel, of Beatrice, and Delmar Herfel, of Cozad, and a sister, Carlene Wiggans, of Diller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Alan & Eunice Epp, a nephew, John Herfel Jr., a brother-in-law, Maurice Wiggans and a nephew-in-law, Chris Behrends.
