Linda was born on July 26th, 1946, in Fort Pierre, South Dakota to Russel and Ellen (Brine) Lewis. She grew up and graduated High School in Fort Pierre, South Dakota. Linda attended Platte Valley Bible College where she met Charles “LeRoy” Guernsey. They were married in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on June 4th, 1967. They were blessed with five children, Rhonda, Terry, John, Lorie, and Chad. The family moved to Bayard, Iowa where she served as a minister’s wife at the Bayard Church of Christ. The family then moved to the Lillian Community where she served in the same role for the Lillian Church of Christ.  Linda also worked as a cook at the Gates Grade School, which she enjoyed immensely.  In the 80’s she began her career at Becton-Dickinson Vacutainer Systems where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement when she became the primary caretaker of her late husband LeRoy who was battling ALS.

Linda’s greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  Many fond memories and much laughter were also shared with her sister Ruth.  Linda enjoyed many travels over the years.  Her three-month trip to New Zealand with her friend Lorraine Thorn, a trip to Canada in her college years, Alaska and Hawaii were a few of her favorites. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do, no one ever went hungry from Linda’s house.  Her other hobbies include crocheting, diamond painting and spending time with her church family.

Linda is survived by her five children, two daughters Rhonda (Nick) Winchester of Kearney, NE, and Lorie (Shaun) Saathoff of Wavery, three sons Terry (Kara) Guernsey of Lincoln, John (Gina) Guernsey of Pickrell, and Chad (Shanna) Guernsey of Burwell, and sister-in-law Ganita (Al) Budd of Ozark, MO. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “LeRoy” Guernsey, parents Russel and Ellen Lewis, siblings Robert Lewis and Ruth McConnell.
