Lee attended Round Valley District 66 country school until 8th grade. He continued his education at Sargent High School where he graduated in 1974.
On September 15, 1968, in Round Valley School at a Jerry Beltz's evangelist meeting Lee went forward to receive Jesus as his personal savior. Later he was baptized by Jerry Beltz in the Milburn River on July 13, 1969.

Lee loved to joke with people, fish, hunt and trap. He enjoyed listening to KBEAR radio, watching black and white westerns, and on occasion having lunch with co-workers, friends, or family at Tumbleweed Cafe. Lee never passed up a strong cup of coffee and time spent visiting with family and friends. His greatest joy was having all of his family with him.
