Larry attended and graduated from Brewster High School in 1966. After high school, Larry started at Grand Island School of Business, but then was drafted into the Army January 11, 1967, and was honorably discharged December 22, 1968.

Larry was united in marriage March 8, 1969, to Donna Guggenmos in Ainsworth, NE. Larry worked for Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center. Then the couple returned to Brewster working for several ranchers. In 1971 Larry went to work with his father on the ranch. Plus, he managed the Monahan Ranch east of Brewster for several years. In his spare time Larry enjoyed watching sports on TV as well as listening to his grandson’s games on the radio. He also enjoyed going to cattle and farm sales and brandings.
