Laddie Doak Olson age 91, of Broken Bow, NE passed away June 23, 2021, at his home in Broken Bow, NE.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 28, 2021, at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Round Valley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Round Valley Cemetery or United Methodist Church of Broken Bow. A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 27th from 1:00 to 6:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of   arrangements. Laddie D. (Doak) Olson was born July 22, 1929, in Round Valley, Nebraska to Henry and Lena (Palmer) Olson. He grew up in the Round Valley community between Sargent and Broken Bow and attended the Round Valley School. He farmed with his father and soon bought his own farm. He was inducted into the US Army on March 4, 1953.

Laddie was honorably discharged on December 10, 1954. He returned to his home in Round Valley where he continued to farm and raise cattle. He married M. Evelyn Carlson in 1955 and they treasured raising four loving children and residing on his  first farm. In 1994, Laddie and Evelyn moved to Broken Bow but continued to farm and headquarter at a smaller house on the farm. He taught his children the benefit of hard, dedicated work and thriftiness, along with the value and love of family. He loved working the land and raising cattle.

Ladd often spoke of God's majesty and greatness on this bountiful and beautiful earth. He enjoyed driving through the country to see the great production of the cattle, grassland, and crops. He completed his journey on earth June 23, 2021, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents  Henry and Lena (Palmer) Olson, infant sisters Donna and Carol and brother-in-law Vernon Carlson.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn, two sons, Duane (Sherrie) Olson and Kent (Nora) Olson of rural Broken Bow, two daughters, Barbara (Brian) Olson of Pleasanton, NE and Karen (William) Owen of Divide, CO. Grandchildren include Michael (Brianna) Olson of Grand Island, Melissa (Rob) Farris of Louisville, Mitchell Olson of Kearney, Zackary (Samantha) Olson of Ansley, James Olson of Lance Creek, WY, Vanessa ( Nathan) Sneed of Loleta, CA, Josie, Elizabeth, Rachel, Cassandra, Joshua, and Danielle Olson of Broken Bow, Amanda (Corey) Fletcher of Colorado Springs, Johnathon Owen of Denver, CO, Hannah Owen of Houston, TX and seven great-grandchildren, Laddie is also survived by  his sister, Cecel Carlson, of Scottsbluff and sister-in-law, Edwina Carlson of Kimball.
