Karen Strawder

Karen Strawder age 82 of Merna, NE, passed away July 20, 2025, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, NE

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Operation Christmas Child/Shoe Boxes. Govier Brothers is in charge of arrangements. Karen Charlotte Strawder was born on February 24, 1943, in Milaca, Minnesota, to Clifford and Lydia (Minks) Mycue. Karen grew up in Minnesota. After high school, Karen attended beauty school. After beauty school, she worked at the local pharmacy and hospital in Minnesota. On June 22, 1990, she was united in marriage to Dan Strawder in Milaca, MN. The couple lived in Scottsbluff, NE, before moving to Merna in 1998. Karen worked for Jack Gracey at the Truck Stop. The couple moved to Off Broadway in August of 2024, then Burwell in May of 2025.

Karen and Dan belonged to the E-Free Church in Broken Bow, where Karen led the Puppet Team.

Karen enjoyed gardening, weeding her garden and flowers.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents Clifford & Lydia, and a sister-in-law Ruth Mycue.

Karen is survived by her husband Dan of Burwell, stepchildren Connie (Randy) Gifford of Douglas, WY, Jim Strawder (friend Kate) of Mitchell, five grandsons, one granddaughter-in-law, brother Duane Mycue of Milaca, MN, niece Kim (Dion) Wills on Milaca, MN, nephew Chris (Kathy) Mycue of Milaca, MN, several great nieces & nephews, best friends Helen (Bryan) Beck of Eagle Bend, MN, Sue (Dave) Brown of Minneapolis, MN, Kathy Lindquist of Minneapolis, MN, and Audrey (Dick) Stattleman of Crosby, MN.
