Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow. Burial will follow in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Free Church. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 26th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Karen Ruby Christensen, age 85, of Broken Bow, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2025, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Karen was born on February 1, 1940, in Gates, Nebraska to Cline and Ruby (Squier) Millsap. She attended Broken Bow High School, graduating in 1957. After graduation, she worked at Nebraska State Bank in the processing department.

On October 12, 1958, she married Jens (Mic) Christensen in Broken Bow. Three children were born to this union. They lived in Berwyn for two years before moving to their farm four miles east of Berwyn and then moved to Broken Bow in 2003.

Karen’s life was one of quiet strength, faith and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She was involved in the Sunflower Extension Club, Custer Couples, and Christian Women’s Club for many years. She was also involved in the church, as a pianist, serving as a deaconess, helping with the Awana Clubs and on many other committees. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, rubber stamping, card making, and she was known for her Karen’s Kards.

Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She is survived by her children, Susan Christensen, Nancy Christensen, and Mike (Cathy) Christensen; and four grandchildren Chris (Jessica) Christensen, Brandy (Kyle) Finney, Chad (Mikaela) Christensen, and Shawna Christensen; and seven great-grandchildren Colt, Kasen, Everlee, and Maylee Christensen, Brooks and Berlyn Christensen and Athena Sutton. She is also survived by her brother Gale (Joanne) Millsap and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by husband and her parents.
