Joe Dodd, a faithful husband, a loving father, a proud grandpa, and a cherished friend, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and warmth. He first found joy in his marriage to Diana Brown, with whom he welcomed two wonderful children, Michelle (Pearson) and Jake Dodd. Though their paths eventually diverged, Joe's commitment to family remained unwavering. He later found renewed happiness with Jeannie (Scott) Dodd, who stood by his side with love and support until the moment he passed. Joe's life was marked by his enduring love for his children and grandchildren and the cherished moments spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe served in the Navy in the Vietnam War as a River Rat; he went up the river to take in supplies and ferry back wounded soldiers.  He returned to Kit Carson, CO, and then eventually moved to Eddyville, NE where he worked for Tom Ferguson and Homer Rhode and then for CO-OP.  He eventually went to work for Dawson County Roads, where he retired.  On the weekends and evenings, he would help Dwayne at Steven’s Welding Shop as well as fixing fence for local farmers.

Joe loved the Sumner community.  He was a part of the Sumner Saddle Club, Sumner Commercial Club, and the American Legion.  He was best known for announcing the Fourth of July Parade and hiding the eggs for the Sumner’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt.  He loved to fish, spend time with his friends at the Burwell campground and in Mesa, Arizona where Joe and Jeannie spent the winters.  He never knew a stranger and everyone he met was a friend.
