Joann Mosier (84 years old) passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in Grand Island, Nebraska. Joann was born on June 18, 1937, in Park, Kansas. She was the oldest of a family of ten children born to Al and Isabelle Krannawitter.
Joann attended country school until the 5th grade near her parent’s home south of Hoxie, KS. She graduated from Sheridan Community High School in Hoxie, graduating in the Spring of 1955. After high school she studied nursing. Joann and Larry were married on November 26, 1955. They lived in Manhattan and Hoxie, Kansas during college years and Spalding, Nebraska prior to moving to Sargent, Nebraska in 1962. Joann worked at the Mosier Veterinary Clinic in Sargent several years before being employed by a local bank for over 20 years. During this time, she served several community organizations including many youth organizations. She was an avid sports fan, bridge player and read extensively.
She is survived by husband Larry Mosier; children Ann (Mike) Hickman, Mark (Debbie) Mosier, Marilyn (Mark) Fenske, Mitch (Karen) Mosier, Michaela (Mike) Woolhiser, Madeline (Tim) Clayton; her sister Donna (Marvin) Giersch, brother Art (Cheri) Krannawitter, sister Eloise Sramek, brother Ken (Paulette) Krannawitter, sister Ruth (Gary) Meier, brother Richard (Sheila) Krannawitter, sister Dorth (Rex) Mauck, sister Mary Krannawitter; grandchildren Tom Hickman, Joe Hickman, Jillian (Seth) Schaeffer, Bethany (Shawn) Opitz, Stephanie (Jeremiah) White, Ryan (Shelby) Mosier, Kari Mosier (Marcus Harris), Cole (Jessica) Fenske, Sammi (Steve) Kaiser, Katy (Kyle) Deterding, Ashley (Brett) Hunter, Emily (Matt) Fujan, Kaylee (Garrett) Gebhardt; great grandchildren Brinley Schaeffer, Henry Schaeffer, Breanna Reinke, Luqman Harris, Yahya Harris, Jeremiah White, Aniyah White, Hazel Fenske, Will Kaiser, Kenna Deterding, Whitney Kaiser, Brooke Deterding, Jaime Deterding, Silvi Kaiser, Paisley Hunter, Jax Hunter and Oliver Fujan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Isabelle Krannawitter; and brother, Oliver Krannawitter.
A Memorial Service will be held May 20, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Catholic Church in Sargent, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Sargent, NE. Memorials may be given to the Sargent Library and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, or your Church of choice.
