Jerri Ann Maxwell (73) passed away peacefully Sunday, December 28th, 2025, surrounded by her husband, Richard (Rich), and daughters, Aimee Lynn and Pamila Jean, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jerri Ann was born September 1, 1952, to Alice (Estergard) and Harlan VanCleave in Callaway, Nebraska. She found a love for sewing at an early age that continued till her passing. Known as the class of 1970s official seamstress, Jerri Ann was also active in chorus, volleyball, pep club, and FHA. She was also active in 4-H, modeling at the state fair and constructed many beautiful garments. Jerri Ann attended Lincoln School of Commerce, where she graduated with her associates degree.
Jerri Ann met Michael (Mike) Anderson while attending school in Lincoln. They were united in marriage December 29, 1973. Jerri Ann worked for Nebraska Farmer before moving with Mike to Green River, Wyoming where she worked at Stauffer and Mike was a mechanical engineer with FMC. In 1979 Jerri Ann and Mike returned to Nebraska, making a home near where she was born and raised. They welcomed their daughters, Aimee Lynn, in February of 1980 and Pamila Jean in August of 1981. Over the years Jerri Ann worked a variety of secretarial jobs.
Aimee's marriage in July of 2002 kindled a spark with longtime family friend, Rich Maxwell. They were married the following year, on September 13, 2003, and enjoyed 22 years of joy together. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and grew an extensive collection of projects, fabric, and yarn. Jerri Ann also enjoyed rides through the canyon to check cows and crops.
Jerri Ann is survived by her husband, Rich Maxwell, daughters Aimee (Doug) Parde of Sterling, Nebraska, Pamila Quandt of Callaway, grandsons Shawn (Olivia), CJ (Julia), Ayden, and Jace, her sister Donna Lea Glendy of Callaway, sister-in-law Jean (Dale) Johnson of Mandan, North Dakota, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Alice VanCleave, first husband, Michael Anderson, parents-in-law Lawerence and Elizabeth Anderson and many family and friends gone too soon.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Callaway, NE with Pastor Karla Sheffy officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Foundation c/o Jerri Ann Maxwell. A register book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, NE.
