Jeremy Gene Burnett age 46 of Merna, NE where he lived with his mother Linda Darlene and stepfather Melvin Runningbear, died April 26, 2024.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE with Father Jim Hunt celebrant. Burial will follow in the Merna Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Family. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 2nd at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Jeremy Gene Burnett was born May 22, 1977, in Callaway, NE to Dennis Paul and Linda Darlene (McAlevy) Burnett. Jeremy was baptized on June 26, 1977, at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church. His First Communion was on May 6, 1985.
Jeremy was raised and attended school in Merna. The family later moved to Berwyn, where Jeremy attended school in Broken Bow, later receiving his GED. Then receiving a degree in Welding. Jeremy worked in Construction, building homes for Habitat for Humanity in Grand Island, NE, and then worked as a fabricator at Dewey Welding in Merna. Jeremy was supportive of anyone who needed help.
Jeremy enjoyed 4-H, camping, fishing, hunting, pickup trucks, carpentry work, mechanical work, and cutting wood with his family. Family was important to him. He was proud of his own Black Angus bull and cows.
Jeremy is survived by his mother Linda (stepfather Melvin) Runningbear of Merna, siblings Eric Lane Burnett of Broken Bow, Daniel Paul Burnett of Broken Bow, Terry Allen (Candice) Burnett of Callaway, and Christina Renea (Bill) Baxter of Broken Bow, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his father, grandparents Luther & Leona McAlevy, and Floyd & Gladys Burnett.
