Gloria Jean Lehmkuhler December 12, 1949 – November 15, 2025

Gloria Jean Lehmkuhler, 75, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. She listened to the Husker Volleyball game and shortly after, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family she devoted her life to.

Born on December 12, 1949, to Irvin and Lillian Whipple, Gloria grew up with strong roots in faith, family, and hard work. On June 15, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry, beginning a beautiful 52-year journey together. They were always available to rescue their children at the drop of a hat. Their lives were filled with love, laughter, and endless miles spent traveling to cheer on their grandkids at their many activities, along with annual fall trips to Estes to take in the elk. Gloria’s happiest moments were always the ones shared with those she loved.

From helping on the family farm as a young girl to working at restaurants as a cook, Baldwin Filters, and various seasonal jobs, Gloria showed a steadfast work ethic throughout her life. But her true calling was being a Mom and Grandma. Raising her kids and watching her grandkids grow was her greatest joy. She poured her heart into her family every single day and was so proud of each and every one of them.

Gloria’s friends also held a special place in her heart. She cherished the laughter, support, and companionship they shared. Whether it was a quick visit, a long conversation, or simply knowing they were there, her friendships brought her comfort, joy, and strength til the very end.

Gloria’s faith carried her through life and sustained her through her multiple bouts with cancer. Even in the hardest moments, she remained strong, loving, and full of grace. Those who knew her will forever remember her warmth, her unwavering devotion, and the quiet strength she showed until the very end.

She is survived by her children: Tina Lehmkuhler of Arnold, NE; Lee Clark (Dan) of Perry, KS; and John Lehmkuhler (Mandi) of Naponee, NE; eight grandchildren and spouses; and eight great-grandchildren. Her siblings: Melvin (Karen) Whipple of Windsor, CO; Linda (Paul) Dietz of Lincoln, NE; Reita (Charley) Lloyd of Callaway, NE; Patty (Ken) Phifer of North Platte, NE; brothers-in-law Jim (Karen) of Oahu, HI; Dwaine (Caro), and Mike (Ann) of Arnold, NE; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tami; her husband, Larry; her parents, Irvin and Lillian; and her in-laws, Lloyd and Bernelda and infant great granddaughter Cordelia.

Although she is deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and resting safely in the arms of the Lord.

Memorial services will be held on Friday November 21, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the Morning Star Church near Callaway, NE with Pastor Shanon Williams officiating. Inurnment will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Words of encouragement and remembrance can be left at www.govierbrothers.com .
