Glen Emert age 81 of Broken Bow, NE, passed away May 25, 2025, at the Custer Care Center in Broken Bow.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Westerville Cemetery in Westerville, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Westerville Cemetery. Fredrick Glen Emert was born October 31, 1943, at Floydada, Texas to his parents Ernest V. Emert and Cecile B. Daniel Emert. Glen’s family of two brothers, David and Earl, lived at Texline, Texas.

Glen enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 11, 1960, and served until October 28, 1963. Glen owes a debt of gratitude to Capt. R.M. Singletary, who was instrumental in helping young soldiers get their GED's. This foresight helped open the way for higher education later in life.

Glen married Jo Ann Schrayer, March 15,1964 at Clayton New Mexico, and was married for 20 years, during which four daughters were born: Freda Jo Ann (Joy), Kelle Faye, Edith Bernice, and Karen Elaine. The couple divorced in 1984.

Glen graduated from Hardin Simmons University, Abilene, Texas 1973, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 1975, earning a Master of Divinity Degree. He then completed a postgraduate Clinical Pastoral Education year 1976, at the High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, Texas

Glen was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Mary Neal Baptist Church December 31, 1971. He was received into the membership of the Nebraska Annual Conference June of 1980 and served churches for 30 years before his retirement in June 2010. He was appointed to Burwell-Taylor, Hershey-Sutherland, Oshkosh­ Lewellen, Pleasanton-Ravenna Zion, Laurel-Logan Center and Broken Bow. He wishes to express his appreciation to the lay members of each of these churches for their provisions and support.

Glen married Janelle Olson-Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado, during his appointment at Oshkosh-Lewellen on July 12, 1987.

They were married for 22 years prior to her death in April 2009.

Just prior to his retirement in June 2010, he and Linda Ann Lowder were married on April 17, 2010. They have made their retirement home in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Glen is survived by his wife Linda Emert of Broken Bow, daughters Joy (Bobby) Martin of Inola, Oklahoma, Kelle (Merlin) Dikeman of North Platte, NE. Bernice (Terry) Holland of Williamson, Georgia, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Glen is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Albert Thomas and Audrey Emert, and maternal grandparents Burl and Leota Daniel, parents Ernest and Cecil Daniel Emert, his wife, Janelle, and daughter Karen Emert- Svjkousky.

Memorials are suggested to the Westerville Cemetery.
