Geraldine Mae Halliwill Turnipseed was born February 9, 1933, at Cliff Table west of Merna, NE to Everett and Lillie (Klinkman) Halliwill.

Geraldine grew up on Cliff Table. She enjoyed horseback riding with friends. Geraldine graduated from Merna High School. Upon graduating she went to Kearney College and earned her teaching certificate. She taught school for two years at a country school. Geraldine married Charles Turnipseed on June 14, 1953, at the Callaway Methodist Church. After Charles got out of the USAF, they settled in the Ortello Valley area farming and raising their family.

Charles and Geraldine moved to Merna in 1977, after raising five children. Geraldine then went to work at Sandhills Manor for many years until retiring in 1995.
