Ernie Gibson

Arnold, NE- Ernest William Gibson age 70 of Arnold formerly of Broken Bow, died May 4, 2026, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday May 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Wellfleet Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday morning May 9, 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Please dress casually. Memorials are suggested to the Family or The Kearney Cancer Center.

Ernest “Ernie” William Gibson was born on May 1, 1956, at Broken Bow, NE to Cody R. and Sylvia (Govier) Gibson. He grew up in Broken Bow and later graduated from Broken Bow High school. He was married to Alice Marie Gaedke on Friday the 13th of September 1991 in Kearney, NE. Ernie worked for 25 years for the Broken Bow Schools in maintenance. Ernie and Alice made their home in Broken Bow and later moved to Arnold.

Family was everything to him. He was always there for his family. Ernie had a huge heart and was always ready to help anyone, and will be greatly missed

Ernie loved the Pontiac GTO’s, classic rock music, camping, fishing, and driving.

He is survived by his wife Alice, of Arnold, NE, his daughter Dana Gibson of Broken Bow, sisters, Ruby Jane Wiedner of St. Paul, and Linda Gibson of Broken Bow, and his beloved cat Miss Kitty, several cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sylvia, his father Cody, and infant sister Carolyn Kay.
