Ernest Duane was born on September 5, 1935, in Sargent, Nebraska, to Ernest Steven and Martha Belle (Sheldon) Reynolds. He grew up and received his education in Taylor, graduating in 1952. Duane ranched in Loup County until an exchange of land, which brought him to Sherman County.
Duane married Shirley Scherzberg on May 20, 1957. Their 62 years of married life were spent on their farm, just east of Litchfield, NE where they raised six children, Cindy (Eldon) Briggs, Steve (Janice) Reynolds, Joan (John) Kohls, Mike (Susan) Reynolds, all of Litchfield, Dave (Lynn) Reynolds of Norfolk and Sheri (Cleo) Papke of Minneapolis, MN. Duane and Shirley were blessed with 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is survived by brothers, Edward, Raymond, and Larry Reynolds and a sister, Marilyn Robertson; along with many nieces and nephews.
Duane’s passions included watching his grandchildren play sports as well as being an avid reader and writer. Duane and Shirley spent 10 years traveling with Charles and Francis Hunter and their healing ministry and then 10 years advocating for the UNBORN and pro-life ministries across the United States. Duane also was a familiar face over the years at farm shows being held across the country. He loved sharing his faith with everyone who would stop at the Fellowship of Christian Farmers booth.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; daughter-in-law, Susan; two grandchildren, Alex and Madison; and brothers, Bill and John Reynolds.
