Donna Miriam Mattox, 88, of Broken Bow, NE went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2021.  She was born April 21, 1933, in Juneau, Alaska to Robert Sr and Evelyn Brown.  They lived there until she turned 12.  They moved to Seattle, WA.  She lived in Seattle and California until she graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle.  She was a sophomore in high school when she gave her heart to the Lord.  This change brought Jesus and Max into her life.  Bob McCaslin, Max’s cousin, attended the same church in Seattle.  He asked her to write a soldier boy in Korea.  She was in competition with 3 other girls, but Donna won his heart.  After several letters back and forth they were married December 21, 1952, in Seattle, WA.

They moved to Nebraska after he finished his military term.  City life to farm life brought her many changes.  She learned to milk cows, sell eggs and garden.  She stayed very busy with her 4 children.  She worked at IGA and in-home caregiver for many years.   Helping others was her passion.  She was an active member of her church and hospice but most important to her was her family.  Each child challenged her patience and faith with many farm related accidents and hospital stays.  She blessed everyone she knew even up to her death with calls of love for Thanksgiving.  She loved writing letters, reading books and being the family historian.

61 years of marriage to Max brought them 5 children.  Donna’s special friend throughout this hard city to farm life change was Wilda McCaslin.  In her last few months her special caregivers were Tracy Konifal and Nina Hurlbert.

Donna is survived by her daughter Deborah Mattox, Broken Bow, 2 sons David (Stacey) Mattox, Broken Bow and Phillip (Dana) Mattox, Lubbock, TX.  8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.  Sister Roberta (Frank) Swezey, Dunnigan, CA, brother Michael Brown, Everett, WA and sister-in-law Judy Brown, Issaquah, WA.  Brother in Laws, Orville Harrold, Broken Bow, Dale (Bev) Mattox, Cheyenne, WY, Joe (Neva) Mattox, Broken Bow.  Sister in laws, Carolyn (Roger) Miles, Lincoln, NE and Darlene Mattox, Broken Bow.

Preceded in death by her husband Max, son Russell, infant daughter Gaylene, parents Robert Sr and Evelyn Brown, brother Robert Brown Jr.
