Diane Gottschalk age 81 of Columbus, NE, formerly of Broken Bow, NE passed away on November 2, 2025, at the Cottonwood Senior Living in Columbus, NE.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will follow in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Cottonwood Senior Living at 3271 29th Avenue in Columbus, NE 68601. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with the family greeting 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. W. Diane Gottschalk was born on June 25, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa to Roy Leo and Wauneta (Briggs) Stoeser. Roy was in the Army and stationed at Schick General Hospital. Diane grew up on the Stoeser farm at Hayes, SD, where she attended 1st through 8th grade at Sansarc School in rural Stanley County, SD, near Hayes, SD. She then attended Riggs High School in Pierre, SD, graduating in 1962.

Diane married Daniel Holloway. To this union two sons were born Kirby and Kyle Holloway. The couple moved to Broken Bow, they later divorced.

Diane later married Bud Gottschalk, the couple made their home in Broken Bow. Diane and Bud owned and operated the “Jack & Jill” grocery store until they retired in 2009.

Diane enjoyed all animals. In 2023, Diane moved to Burwell, and later to Columbus.

Diane is survived by sons Kirby (Sheri) Holloway of Bellwood, Kyle Holloway of Rapid City, SD, stepsons Gary Gottschalk and Greg Gottschalk, sisters Kathy (Roger) Peterson of Phillips, SD, Lynette (Paul) Vetos of Butte, MT, Julie (Randy) Neilan of Fort Pierre, SD, Vickie (Dick) DeKay of Martin, SD, brothers Keith (Kitty) Stoeser of Florida, Tim Stoeser of Florida, Reed (Sue) Stoeser of Fort Pierre, SD, Randy (Cheryl) of Fort Pierre, SD, Gaylen (Mary) Stoeser of Sioux Falls, SD, and Bert Stoeser of Winner, SD, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many Briggs and Stoeser cousins.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Wauneta, husband Bud in 2020, brother Vince Stoeser, grandson Kody Holloway, stepson Brad Gottschalk, nephews Kip Vetos, Brandon Stoeser, and Cole Peterson, and sister-in-law Anna Stoeser.
