Dan was born on November 20, 1958, to Claire and Virginia (Borchers) Burnett in Broken Bow, NE. Dan spent his early years in Nebraska before relocating to California where he lived until graduating from Walnut High School in 1976. After returning to Nebraska Dan was employed by Bart Hultine at his marble factory in Juniata, a special bond was formed with Bart and his family especially with Bart and his son Marc. Dan and his brother Rod shared many adventures with the Hultine men, and many stories have been shared. Dan returned to the Anselmo area and started his own construction business. On January 20, 1996, Dan married Tammy Booten and they were Blessed by the adoption of their two children Tashia Lynn and Cameron Lee in August of 2006. Dan would move on from construction and purchase the Anselmo Market and Fubar & Grill which he ran together with Tam until his death. Dan was fortunate enough to employ David Haskell at the market and David quickly became his right-hand man. Many hours were spent together, and it wasn’t long before David was just thought of as part of the family and was loved and treated as one.

Dan loved hunting, fishing, golf, playing pool, and anything to do with the Huskers. He had the ability to fix anything and loved the challenge. Dan’s family was very important to him, and he took much pride in his ability to pick on them, especially his sisters.

Dan is survived by his wife Tammy and their two children Tashia and Cameron of Anselmo, son Tim (Misty) Baker, Mother Virginia John, stepmother Leah Burnett, sisters: Linda (Rai) Bang, Teresa (John) Kolkebeck, & Kathy (Lyle) LaMothe. Brothers: David (Angela) John, Steve (Michelle) Burnett, Jim John, Greg (Christy) Burnett, Mitch (Jessica) Burnett, and Chris (Tina) John, Mother-in-law Norma Booten, sister-in-law Toni (Carl) French, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Claire Burnett, brother Rodney Burnett, and father-in-law Terry Booten.
