Bob Petrick

July 9, 1949 — February 14, 2022

Robert Dean (Bob) Petrick of Grand Island passed peacefully away at home on February 14, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer.  Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Richard Piontkowski officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Ansley Cemetery.

Bob was born in Broken Bow, NE on July 9, 1949, to Bernard and Dorothy Lewis Petrick.   He grew up on the family farm at Ansley and attended Algernon school from kindergarten through fifth grade and then attended school in Ansley, graduating in 1967.   Bob moved to Grand Island and attended Grand Island School of Business, getting his Associates Degree in Business.   He was drafted into the Army in 1969 and completed basic training in Fort Lewis, WA.   He was medically discharged after his basic training.   He moved to Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska and worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads. 

Bob was united in marriage to Susan Annette Woodward on July 18, 1970.  They lived in Ansley where he farmed.  Two sons were born to this union, Travis James and Brent William. 

Bob quit farming in 1997 and went to work for Ace Irrigation in Kearney and worked there until 2003 when he became a Territory Salesman for Waterman Industries traveling several US states and 3 providences of Canada.  In April of 2007 he became a Territory Sales Manager for Hutchinson/Mayrath, NECO and in January 2020 he went to work as a Salesman for General Collection and worked there until he was forced to retire due to his health. 

He married Judy (Prindle) Price on March 6, 2004, and with this union also acquired four bonus children, Nicole, John, Keisha, and Josh.  They made their home in Grand Island where they were blessed to be within a couple of hours of all the kids and grandkids. 

Bob was a past Ansley School Board Member from 1990 to 1998, a Four States Irrigation Board Member from 2002 to 2004, Commander of the Ansley American Legion Post 153 and also a past member of the Ansley Rural Fire Department.    He was a current member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Grand Island Saddle Club.  

Bob enjoyed being outside, working in his yard, socializing with neighbors, friends, and family over a cold beer, playing pranks on family and friends, getting dressed up, traveling, and following the grandkids wide variety of activities.   Bob never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation everywhere he went. 

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Grand Island, son Travis (Shannon) and their children, Keegan, and Allie of Hildreth, Brent (Joyce) and their children, Otto and Ward of Ansley.  Judy’s children, Nicole Schmidt (Mike Bolin) and her children Maliyah and Grayson, of Omaha, John (Kassy) Price and their children, Hailey, Elliott and Skylar of Grand Island, Keisha (Bill) Coufal and their children, Brooklyn, Madilynn, Zella, Jeter and Bronx of Olathe, KS, and Josh (Maggie) Price of Omaha.   Sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Myron Reynolds of Broken Bow, Sister-in-law, Judy Petrick of Plainwell, MI and Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and John Hicks of Zag, ND.  Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Dorothy, his first wife Susan, brother Richard (Dick) Petrick, sister Judy Brown, brother-in-law, Carl Schroeder, brother-in-law, Jerry Allen, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ardith and Melvin Reineke.

Arrangements are being handled by Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow.  Memorials are suggested to GRACE Foundation, 3310 W Capital Ave., Grand Island, NE  68803.  The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for the loving care and support during this difficult time.
