Allan was born February 7, 1934 on the family ranch near Arnold, NE to Bruce and Evelyn (Lewis) Woodward. He graduated from both Callaway High School in 1951 and Reisch School of Worldwide Auctioneering in 1960.

On August 7, 1955 he married Geraldine (Gerry) Anderson in Callaway, NE. Allan and Gerry raised four children together: A.T., Jill, Kim, and Amy. Early in their marriage, Allan and Gerry sang duets in church and Allan took voice lessons to further his talent. His favorite hymn was “How Great Thou Art.”

In 1961, they moved to Broken Bow where they farmed, ranched, raised their children, and founded the Allan Woodward Agency providing real estate, insurance, and auction services to the Sandhills and Central Nebraska.

Allan was an active member of Broken Bow United Methodist Church for over 60 years, sang in the choir, and served on several boards and committees such as the Jaycees and Civil Air Patrol. Allan served as Past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E., Past President of the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Broken Bow Rotary and the NAAA. Together, Allan and Gerry, supported the Custer County Republican Party. Allan was a licensed pilot and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with family.

Allan served as her main caregiver after Gerry was diagnosed with M.S. until her passing in 2003. He is remembered for always carrying Gerry’s lipstick in his pocket. Allen was also known for taking the time to talk with anyone, finding out their life story.
