Alice Lucas

Alice Harriet Lucas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026.

Alice was born on May 17, 1948, in Camden, New Jersey, to Harry and Alice Williams. She grew up in Camden and graduated from Camden Catholic High School, where she was a cheerleader. She later attended Rutgers University, where she studied stenography.

Throughout her life, Alice had many passions and accomplishments. She earned a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, an achievement that reflected her determination and strength. She was a die-hard Duke fan and loved spending time in the Black Hills. She was also a collector of Red Wing and took great joy in feeding the blue jays and squirrels around her home.

Of all the things Alice enjoyed, nothing meant more to her than her family. Her favorite pastime was attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on. She was their biggest supporter, and being present for the moments that mattered to them brought her immense happiness and pride.

Alice will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit. She was always the nicest person in the room and had a way of making those around her feel loved and welcomed. Her generosity, compassion, and unwavering love for her family touched countless lives. She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but a lasting example of what it means to love others wholeheartedly.

Alice is survived by her loving husband, Jerome Lucas; her daughter Kelly and Matt Schall; daughter Kim and JR Coble; son-in-law Justin and Jenny Shea; son Jonathan and Gabriela Lucas; daughter Andrea and Tim Southwell; daughter Alyssa and Dan Burr; her sister Nancy Waller; niece Melissa Waller; cousin Paul Williams; and close friend Janice White.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Alex, Hannah, Ty, Lincoln, Qwentin, Eli, Jameson, Jazzy, Tristan (Maddy), Teagan (Corbin), Emily (Tristan), and Addison, who brought so much joy and love into her life.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Harry Williams; her brother, Michael Williams; and her daughter, Karen Shea.

Though Alice will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, laughter, and memories will live on through the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who knew Alice to remember her by spending time with the people they love, cheering someone on from the sidelines, and showing others the same kindness she showed throughout her life.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to the Broken Bow EMS. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Online words of remembrance may be left at www.govierbrothers.com
