Alfred Elmer Bauer, 85, of Pleasanton died October 11, 2025, at St. Luke’s Home, Kearney, NE.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at Pleasanton Evangelical Free Church with George Reitz officiating. Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Homeward Trail Bible Camp. The family will greet friends at visitation Sunday, October 19, 2025, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

He was born October 20, 1939, to Elmer John and Minnie Dorothy (Lammers) Bauer at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE. Alfred attended Brown Rural School and Litchfield High School.

On Dec. 22, 1961, he married Frieda JoAnn Cherry at New Life Assembly Church, Kearney, NE and they farmed northwest of Pleasanton. He and wife Frieda were baptized on May 31, 1964, in the South Loup River.

Alfred had a love for horses and longhorn cattle, he enjoyed working with machinery and tractors, especially two-cylinder John Deere tractors which he pulled at tractor pulls. He farmed, worked for Rochford’s Construction, the Buffalo County Highway Department. During retirement he continued to work for VC Howard Hay Co., Reese Farms and neighbors. He served on the Sartoria Township Board and attended the Pleasanton Evangelical Free Church.

Surviving relatives include his sons; Randy Bauer and wife, Karla of Pleasanton, Ricky Bauer and wife, Renee’ of Elm Creek and his daughter Brenda Paitz and husband, Brian of Pleasanton. Grandchildren include Kristi (Shaun) Fisher, Kelli (Tanner) Taubenheim, Keri Bauer, Justine Bauer, Allison (Matthew) Hinrichs, Whitney Bauer, Ashley Bauer, Madeline (Zach) Schmidt, Brodrick Paitz, and Cassidee Paitz. Great-Grandchildren include Kaydn Fisher, Lincoln Fisher, Brooks Fisher, Jace Taubenheim, Dayton Taubenheim, Kinley Taubenheim and Hazel Hinrichs. Sisters; Dorothy (Kim) Phillips of Pleasanton and Marilyn (David) Cyboron of Boelus. He was preceded in death by wife Frieda JoAnne (Cherry) Bauer; parents; Elmer John Bauer and Minnie Dorothy (Lammers) Bauer; brothers, Ervin (Ilene) Bauer and Bertis Lee Bauer (infant brother).
